Why when you have white cat does he only sit on your dark clothes and vice-versa?

I have a white cat, he seems to ONLY sit on dark clothes, or if you have a dark outfit on. When I'm wearing white shorts & a t-shirt, I can't BEG him to sit on my lap!
I have a long-haired calico, mostly white, she ALWAYS does that! And then my black cat....always on my lite colored throws and blankets!
But I love 'em anyway......:)
