What kind of frog is it in my yard, and how do I get it to be quiet?

I live in Petaluma, California, and about a week ago, a frog seems to have moved into my rain-filed kiddie pool. Does anyone know what kind of frog this might be, how long he'll be here, and if he ever plans on being quiet? Please do not write me anything about killing frogs, as I volunteer for the Humane Society and am also a vegetarian. :) Will he eventually leave when he can't find a mate?
on a side note maybe he is your prince charming and if you kiss him YOU will live happily ever after. lol
As for ID'ing it, your co-workers could probably do that better than we could... unless of couse you described it to us in some way- what does the call sound like, for example?
Most mating calls occur for a fairly short time in the spring, so it should not last more than another month! ;-)

If it is a bull frog, try to catch it if you can and take him to any stream or body of water and release him. there are no dangers in handling him, but you may have a hard time catching him as frags are not the easiest critter to catch. try going out there at night, shine a flashlight in its eyes it will not be able to see you then use some sort of net ro a sheet or something to catch him. then you could transport him in a shoe box or something. this way you could make sure that he gets safely to a place where he can find a girl frog and live happily ever afterm,on a side note maybe he is your prince charming and if you kiss him YOU will live happily ever after. lol

It would seem that finding a frog in a kiddie pool would be simple, and easy to either catch or get rid of by draining the pool.As for ID'ing it, your co-workers could probably do that better than we could... unless of couse you described it to us in some way- what does the call sound like, for example?
